Quality Process Dashboard — enterprise governance overview

Untangling 1,000+ Pages of Exhaustive Documentation

Stakeholder Context & Challenge

Over years of accumulation, OPAL grew into a sprawling web portal with global procedures for internal policies, CMM certifications, and client SLAs. Flows, hierarchies, and expected outcomes weren't clearly documented — the workload was strained across brand-new distributed teams and disparate visual channels.

4 Core Architectural Audit Areas

Relational Cross-Linking: untangling interlinked quality processes and audit requirements scattered across dozens of internal portals. Contextual Role Exposure: surfacing depths of technical documentation depending on whether a user is an Auditor, Executive, or Practitioner. Content Hierarchy & Priority: determining the correct level of prominence via downloadable protocols vs. hierarchy-organized process pages. Centralized Hubs vs. Distributed Nodes: centralizing common documentation nodes while properly linking off-tangent workflows without reference disorder. Contextual Anchoring: providing consistent contextual and directional indicators when navigating between multi-layered process pipelines.

Discovery Workshops & Journey Mapping

The Live QMS Portal

The 6-Week Rapid Sprint Protocol

01

Discover

Conducted a full audit of 1,000+ pages, establishing content matching a comprehensive taxonomy inventory.

02

Define

Synthesized audit findings into structured information architecture and defined an all-org requirements matrix.

03

Empathize

Constructed multi-level personas for each audience: Auditor, Executive, Practitioner and Quality Analyst.

04

Ideate

Engineered several node-link topology diagrams, rapid prototypes, and content-hierarchy sketches.

05

Design

Authored production-ready responsive interface, information hierarchy, and full component system.

Systematic Node-Link Restructuring

01

Standardized Tokenization

Unified typographic styles, high-contrast accessibility ratios, and strict brand-aligned color use across every documentation surface.

02

Predictable Topologies

Categorized 1,000+ pages into a structured Dashboard, Projects, and Reports hierarchy — visible directly from the top-level Northstar dashboard.

03

Linear Ingestion Pipelines

Reduced ten-plus circular reference flows into orderly, one-directional Ingestion → Validation → Analysis → Reporting stages.

What the Redesign Delivered

01

Simplified Navigation

Intuitive navigation for both desktop and mobile, replacing the sprawling static-page maze with structured mega-menus and unified search.

02

Stronger Information Hierarchy

A consistent visual cue-hierarchy that reduces cognitive density, prioritizing critical compliance processes over general procedural detail.

03

Consistent Design Language

Reusable content elements — cards, callout boxes, and data tables — establish a predictable visual vocabulary across all departments.

04

Improved Visuals & Infographics

Clear process diagrams, flowchart nodes, and high-legibility infographics replaced walls of unstructured legacy text.

05

Accessibility & Standards Aligned

Engineered in strict alignment with IBM Northstar accessibility standards WCAG 2.1 AA and modern component visibility architecture.

06

Segmented, Searchable Content

Information split into modular, well-instanced knowledge with instant keyword search and role-based filtering to bypass manual directory traversal.

“The QMS Team will be forever thankful for your immense contribution to the new QMS portal. Your insights on user experience design and creative input made a real difference — I do not think we could have achieved this ourselves.”
